Hi Folks,
Can anyone recommend any reasonably priced hotels near, or in the general area of the British Embassy in Manila. My wife's due to be going there soon and I wanted to try to fix her up with accommodation and an airport pickup, so it hopefully wont be too stressful for her.
Cheers,
Iain.

Okay got this email last first week of July from the travel agency (http://www.asiatravel.com)in manila coz i was looking for hotels nearby in British Embassy :
Hello!
Other hotels near British Embassy are Somerset Olympia and Gilarmi Apartment. Somerset Olympia is a serviced apartment and the cheapest room type that they offer is the studio room. The rate of the studio room is USD 70.00 net per night. Another hotel is Gilarmi Apartment. The rate of the hotel type/ one bedroom apartment is USD 45.00 per night. Millenium Plaza Hotel i got it 1,800 per night and room is too huge. its just 15-20 minutes away from British Embassy.
And bout the taxi it is expensive if your going to book for that from the hotel, theres alot of taxi around in the airport you will pay more less, but its up2 you:xxgrinning--00xx3:

Be careful that Gilarmi Apartment may be closed:
From Uri on Asawa forum (February 24, 2006):
FYI:
Just returned last weekend. We stayed in Gilarmi and some of the stuff there told us, Gilarmi will be closed soon, desctructed and rebuild. They can't tell us exactly the date, but they said it should already been started but has been postponed because of some reservations. In case somebody plan to stay there, you should contact them about this.

Hi Rick,
She's only going to file her application, but I been told that to save any hassle, if you go to UKVACS 1st thing in the morning and hand in your application and evidence etc, then they will askyou return in the afternoon to confirm that its all in order. Otherwise, if they find something is wrong or missing, they will contact you by snail mail. So she intends to stay over in manila the night before she goes to UKVACS and also the following night because it will be too late to catch a flight back to CDO by then. I have been told that since the introduction of UKVACS and the streamlining of the process, an interview is not always required, if they feel that the evidence of relationship is strong enough and all the other paperwork checks out.
Cheers,
Iain

Hi Iain
Go to this website , www.yellowasp.com/makatimap/ (http://www.yellowasp.com/makatimap/) and it will show you all the hotels in the area. The embassy is in the LV Locsin building on the corner of Ayala Ave. and Makati Ave. The map can be moved and zoomed. Ashley stayed in Tower Inn Makati , one block south of the embassy, fairly cheaply. More expensive hotels just across from the embassy if you want.
Hope this helps
Brian and Ashley
