Yep....spent many an hour stuck in Franfurt.

Seats a bit cramped, food not great....747's aren't the new ones and rattle a lot.......and the aircrew are all skinheads :yikes:

Apart from that.....

Onboard Lufthansa flight to New York

PA : This is the captain - one of the port engines has just cut out - don't worry we can fly on three engines

PA2 : This is the ....... don't worry we can fly on two engines

PA3 : .............. we can fly on one engine

PA4 : .............. sorry but we are going to have to land in the Atlantic fortunately as the weather is good it will be a smooth landing

After we land all passengers must evacuate the aircraft onto the wings

All passengers who can swim please assemble on the port wing
Those passengers who can not please assemble on the starboard wing

Being German they all did as instructed

Shortly thereafter the captain and flight deck crew were seen approaching the aircraft in a rubber dingy

Using a loudhailer - This is the captain - all passengers on the port wing please follow me to New York - all passengers on the starboard wing "Thank you for flying Lufthansa"

I bet you this wretched story will stick in your mind as you fly LH !!! but for safety reasons (your own!!) don't repeat while on board

Lufthansa 1st and Business classes are fine, but if you like adventure take a ride on H class economy - and get your towel at the ready !!!!!

Before I book a flight I check every small detail, even down to who manufactures the engines, exact leg room, entertainment, special meals.....

What re the cheapest 1st and business class tickets available to Cebu or Manila? Any airline.
Are there deals available?

Just asking as I have always wanted to turn left after entering an aircraft whilst sniggering at the sardines turning right.:BlacklistLoser:
(without getting a second mortgage)..
Cheers,Fred.

you cant afford it Fred - lets face companies pay for people to go in 1st class. But business ranges from 2000 to 4000 depending on who you go with.

Cheapest flight I found so far is with KLM..
Business class return-Lon Hthrow-Manila Total including tax(es) and surcharges GBP 1,538.50

not too shabby!!

russ is right.

the only people who fly business class are having someone else pay for it (or free upgrade :BouncyHappy:). I think if you have not flew business before you will be deeply disappointed (I've never flown first  so dont know about that).

for european flights there is not a great deal of difference. I'm sure the legroom is the same. ok, so the seat is leather - not cloth - so what?

for long haul things are different. I've flown BA to HK, and the chairs dont go totally flat, and aint that comfy, you cant play games either, so just get :Wine:drunk & go to sleep...

Other carriers, its just a big leather chair with lots of legroom. Which is great for getting drunk :party-smiley-012:.

Obviously people will have very different ideas about the best way to fly, I think for me its,

1) Ability to get tanked up before the flight. You can book yourself into a heathrow lounge for 15quid, have 5 cans of beer & peanuts - brilliant.

2) Things to do to pass the time. You can sleep (helps if you are drunk), or play computer games (which I prefer) or listen to music or gervais podcasts (also good).

3) price, airmiles etc.

If you want to snigger at poor people, then fly qatar airlines, economy class & fill your wallet with all the money you've saved.

If you want to fly business. Do it on domestic fil flights. Manila-Davao is 4000pesos economy, and just 9000business.

Personally if I wanted to blow 1000quid on a flight. Charter a seaplane & fly to Palawan & land outside some fancy resort. The memories will stay with your forever...

(sorry for going on a bit. But I don't like to see people throw money away :REGamblMoney01HL1::REGamblMoney01HL1::REGamblMoney01HL1:)

Well u where right!!!

They where on time and efficient and the food was excellent, but no IFE :cwm23:

Small screens came down from the roof which showed a lot of crap, well i shouldn't say that really coz my headphones didn't work :xxgrinning--00xx3: so i got them changed twice - i guess the socket was ****ed.

Normally i have great difficulty sleeping on a plane, but no this time as i had **** all else to do:Rasp:

Dont fly Lufwaffe

Told you so !!!!

Next time go with KLM via Schipol with a 6 hour wait on transfers to Manilla. Then catch the train into Dam and go to any coffee shop and order the strongest thing on the menu.

Here's the hard bit - staying awake long enough to get back to the airport and board your plane, but you'll have guaranteed sleep for at least the next 6 hours of your flight. heheheeee

Lufthansa use "old" 747-400 with old cabin technology. The other problem with Lufthansa is that they don't have a direct flight from Frankfurt to Manila. You have to stop in China.
But it may change, they just ordered brand new long range A/Cs: 20 747-8 and 7 A340-600 for flights to Asia and America.

KLM is using recent 777-200 with a modern IFE system. Each seat has a LCD screen and their flight is direct from Amsterdam to Manila (that's the shortest way to travel there from Europe). Only the food is often awfull...

we did a flight france-manila-france via lufthansa and its true, we got a bad leg room, stocked in the center area seats of the plane, no personal tv for 16hours, food was awful. We always take emirates. But if klm offers better we might get klm next time.

KLM Toulouse -> Manila with 1 stop in Amsterdam : 730€ (493£) taxes included for a round trip but at this price you can't change the travel dates and it's not refundable.
Flight duration: AMS->MNL 12h30 and MNL->AMS 14h (it's short as there's no stop). Add 2H for the flight to/from TLS and 2h of stop in Amsterdam.

It's easier getting to Manila than going the other way to bloody Reno :NoNo: .....I think it'll be quicker cycling!!
