Because it's a free forum, and we publish people's views not just those of myself & the wife ;) . So people who haven't yet visited the Philippines can find out information they don't know from people that have been.
This is a freedom of speech forum, and not North Korea

Please try to be more helpful in your post - as Keith says this is a free discussion forum, we're here to inform and help each other, not to sling mud - just ignore the insults...
I've been to Philippines 4 times only, and I've still not managed to see Boracay, and Elsa and I will make it a must-do on our next visit.

Beaches..... we have plenty! But until now I am still impress with our visit in Boracay. The white sand is just adorable. I love the water also, island hopping and the food of course. I think the beaches in Panglao Bohol are also nice but not all of them, though I can recommend Aloha Beach Resort. The sand is also white and the cottages are cute. I cannot name all the beautiful beaches in the Philippines but there are plenty of them.

Yap, that's right! If you're into diving try Puerto Galera in Mindoro. Sabang Beach is the place to be if you want the night life as it has entertainments every night.
Batangas beaches are also beautiful.
Ask your wives where's the nearest in their hometown as you usually goes on hols to the philippines to visit the whole clan, then at least you can go and visit the family and have a nice time on the beach as well.

Boracay is very nice. You almost forget you're in the Philippines, until the pleasant scene gets ruined by some clapped out dirty trike sputtering down the non-tarmaced road. Can't they at least keep them away from the areas where they want to encourage tourists to visit?
It's a pig to get to, involving knackered old boats (no jetties, you have to jump in the sea and wade ashore, and pray to the heavens that the day you travel there there's no sea storm), but it is nice. Even got international schools if you wanted to move there and take the kids.
Nice hotels too. Still in its infancy in terms of development (of the island), but if you want to get away to a place where you won't be bothered by the trappings of the modern world, this is quite good.
But then, since I've been there've been stories of stabbings, shootings and kidnappings of british nationals, so if the Philippine poison has dripped in here too, it might have since ruined it. Like it did to Palawan.
The Philippines has got so much to offer, it's such a shame they're destroying it.

Don't ask the wife or the family because Filipinos are not attracted to beaches to the same degree as the foreigners. Filipinos head towards the nearest municipal beach with the whole tribe and the kitchen sink and then rent a bahai kubo for the day alongside millions of others doing the same thing. I have looked at most of Luzon and several places in Visayas and most coral reefs have been destroyed by dynamite, fishing, and collection of corals and shells. Other beach areas like La Union are built up with resorts with their bars, videoke, night life, and girls. Beaches are often dirty but those who go there are not there for the marine life.
I was disappointed with Sabang beach at Puerto Gallera - too noisy, crowded, and dirty. Boracay was great in the 80's. Quiet, cheap (cost of hut was 14 pesos per day), no electricity, and paradise! I gather development has improved it a bit - more noise, more expensive, security risk, can't drink the water. Do they still sell magic mushrooms?
100 islands are OK if you avoid the one that everyone else gathers on but the coral reefs have been destroyed. Bolinao also has no coral. The coral on an island off Moalboal, Cebu is good. Bantayan Island has nice white sandy beaches. I never found any good snorkeling or beaches on Mactan.
Avoid Samal Island off Davao but Talikud Isl is quiet with nice view of Mt Apo.
Camiguin Isl was great although no nice beaches - you have to get a pump boat to White Island (spend a night there but take water and provisions). Lucena has a beach but got there after a typhoon and the sea was brown and not salty. Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte has a reasonable beach but given the distance to get to it you would think that they would lower the price for the resorts. Baler, Aurora has a long beach with grey sand and great for surfers - Apocalypse Now.
I have tried a few other places but nothing worth mentioning. Everyone talks about Palawan and the islands in between. Have to try next time. I know a nice place in Luzon but takes a pump boat to reach it. Took me years to find it - my secret place.
