As my first trip gets ever nearer, I wonder about the stupidest things...

Is there a problem taking photos back from philippines, ie, undeveloped film?

I dont know why I thought of this, but I'd hate to have lots of pics of my gf and I together ruined because of some suspicious customs official or something.

Maybe it would be better to get them devloped while still in the phils?

I never had any problems taking film in or out of the PI.

One thing to watch is that developing quality in some shops there (most alll!) is total crap. The majority of films I had developed there, dozens in fact, came out with scratches, marks, dust flakes, wierd borders, all sorts of faults. I've even had them back with a mix of two textures on one roll (some matt, some gloss??), photos mysteriously 'missing' out of a set, some are doubled up but others are not there, great streaks across some, like they were exposed to light acidentally etc etc.

Films are cheap enough to buy there, so take plenty of photos and try out a few different developers, see if you can find a good one.

They have the same attitude towards developing films as they do with everything else in that country: Second best IS good enough.

Second best?

You obviously managed to find some of the more upmarket places in town. Fifth best was the best I could find.

We developed flim both in the ATC Alabang centre and in my wifes Local town (wedding pictures) and both came out alright, both done in a hour or so. Maybe we were lucky i have no idea of the price as the Missus dealt with.

Don't forget to take some on your Phone if it has a camera bulit in. The quality is not always amazing, but for ensuring you have plenty of pictures of the two of you and with family and friends its convient.

We also asked around and found both family and friends had taken photos of the two of us, which we obtained as well.

Did you live in Alabang, or somewhere near there? My wife and I lived in GMA for a couple of years, just a thirty minute Jeepney drive from Alabang. We used to visit Metropolis and that other big mall they built just down the road, SM?. My wife went to the AMA school just opposite Metropolis for a while, doing a computer technicians course.
