Hello john
Ive been to bohol last year of july. I would rather to recommend you to stay in Panglao Island Nature Resort. We went first to Cebu then we took an ocean jet going to tagbilaran port it will take about 2hours. If your from manila you can ride a plane going to tagbilaran just visit this site www.philippineairlines.com just seach and it will tell you the time.
Panglao is very nice island and that resort that i gave its very fantastic, foods are great its all in buffet style, all you wanted to eat is there.Staffs are friendly.. Breakfast and Dinner is already included to what you had paid for the rooms.Rooms is so nice made of nipa hut,and then you have your own bungalow,we stayed infront of the beach when i woke up in the morning i can feel the breeze that coming from the sea.. They have also a man made island not too big but its very nice to have sunbathing there...hot hot hot!!! each bungalow has its own jacuzzi which you can share to your wife..... http://www.panglaoisland.com/ check this link http://www.panglaoisland.com/
If your going for a tour around you can hire a taxi (taxi there is very expensive) you can book also in the resort if you wanted...
Place is great its really exclusives for guest!!

John,
Shhh... I don't want people to find out about Bohol! :NoNo: As Scottie says, Panglao is the place for beach activities and a popular diving resort. And there are other islands off Panglao, such as the beautiful Balicasag (I think I put a couple of pics of that in the Gallery). You can go looking for whales and dolphins if you can get up early! I assume you've already discovered the official Bohol tourism site (http://www.bohol.ph/)? :)
Inland, there's the Chocolate Hills of course. I've been to Bohol 3 times and still not seen them though :) And you have to see the tarsiers, they're unbelievable!
I've always stayed in Tagbilaran and always in the Bohol Tropics Hotel (http://www.boholtropics.com/): it is, quite simply, the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The rooms are very reasonably priced, spacious; the staff, apart from the occasional snotty one on the front desk, are amazing - so helpful and friendly. And the restaurant is excellent.
If you want more details, I'm sure Mel can fill you in :) In fact, I think she has an aunt who owns a guest-house on Panglao... :Erm:
