Two persons were electrocuted while another one is in serious
condition after the iron bar they were carrying accidentally hit a
live wire during the ongoing construction of La Fortuna Building
along Borromeo Street.
Ritchie Lastimosa, 19, of Toledo City and Dionisio Seballos of
barangay
Duljo-Fatima were declared dead on arrival at the Cebu City Medical
Center while Ruben Boyunan, a resident of Dumanjug town, was in
serious condition and is now confined at the same hospital.
Based on investigation conducted by PO3 Henry Estoy of the Homicide
Section of the Cebu City Police Office, the victims were employed as
steel men of Zepeda Reverse Formwork, the sub-contractor of the Asec
Development and Construction Corporation that is contracting the La
Fortuna Building.
Estoy said the steel bar that the victims were carrying while
climbing up to the sixth floor hit a primary line of the Visayan
Electric Company.
Lastimosa, who reportedly did not use a safety belt, fell from the
sixth floor and died instantly while Seballos was stuck to the iron
bar he was holding and was killed instantly.
Estoy said Boyunan, who fell to the third floor, suffered a second-
degree burn in his left arm and his testicles reportedly exploded.
Estoy added that when the iron bar hit VECO's primary line, a loud
explosion was heard at the construction site. - Floz Z. Perolina

Classic Filipino Journalism! I love it! "his testicles reportedly
exploded!" Like we had to know that! Followed right in the next
paragraph by "a loud explosion was heard at the construction site"!
How big were these testicles? I can't get up, I'm typing this on the
floor! Perry
And his testicles are where? Probably in some adobo in the nearest carenderia! Poor sod. bad enough you have your testicles explode without it making the newspapers! Perry

I was surprised watching the news a few years ago when on a visit over xmas and New Year to see the victims of firework accidents being shown on TV holding up their hands showing fingers etc hanging off and dripping blood :yikes:
