For all you "Christopher Robin's" who will take the Filipina "Alice" to London this year - here is a piece of triva to enhance your viewing experience of the Changing of the Guard outside Buckingham Palace.
There are five regiments of Guards - red tunics and black bearskin hats (not busby's) - you can identify the Guards from a distance by the grouping of the buttons on their uniform.
You can also tell by their collar insignia and by the plume colour on the bearskin, but the buttons are the easiest way
Regiment Buttons
GENADIER 8 x Singles
COLDSTREAM 4 x 2’s
SCOTS 3 x 3’s
IRISH 2 x 4’s
WELSH 2 x 5’s
Pete is offering a prize for the forum member who provides fotos of their beautiful bride posing with a guardsman from each of the five regiments - the five photos will be posted on his excellent web pages.
First prize in this competion might be a week's holiday in Liverpool and the second prize, two weeks.
