I published this on my other forums, but it is relevant here as I know a number of you use Ebay, etc.
I've just found this site, very useful regarding importing goods. http://www.sloanefox.freeserve.co.uk/importukduty.htm
It seems your allowed items up to £18 for free. I thought it wa £40, but the tight fisted buggers have obviously plugged up the auction sites.
Their is a way around it. Get a friend to buy the item in the country concerned, and get them to post it marked "Birthday Present". It's usually free then , although sometimes you'll get pulled for something over £36, but they don't have to put the real price on do they?
Works for me as I have friends all over the World.
