  • Escaping to Beautiful Boracay in the Philippines

    Share/Bookmark
Among the 7,107 islands that define the Republic of the Philippines, just one island has made it to the list of the top ten beaches of the world. Shaped like a butterfly, the island of Boracay has changed into a well-known vacation destination. As of 1997, over 150,000 people have discovered this stunning remote island. That number has actually been continuously rising throughout the years. Boracay is situated in Western Visayas, at the north-western end of Panay. The majority of the people that will explore this tropical isle paradise originate from Asian countries such as Korea, Japan and Singapore. The powdery, sugar-white shores and cost effective accommodations make it the ideal retreat from the strain of employment and all sorts of other aspects of life.

    Getting to the Island

The most sensible and hassle-free way of getting to Boracay is to board an airplane from Manila to Caticlan. Nevertheless, this might be hard throughout the high season, which is from November to June. A decent solution may be to reserve a flight ticket either to Kalibo or Roxas, that are just about a couple of hrs from Caticlan.

Pump boats ferry everyone in between Caticlan and Boracay every fifteen minutes, starting at 6 am to 6 pm. The vessels dock at either of the three watercraft stations on White Beach, which is definitely the most visible and most populated amongst all 3 of Boracay's beach locations. The other two shorelines are Bulabog Beach, which would be to the east and Puka Beach, which would be to the north.

    Enjoyable Activities

You'll find tons to try and do in Boracay. Plenty of resorts and sport centers offer boating and various aquatic sports, diving and snorkelling, playing golf, horseback riding, therapeutic massage, and even shopping.

For the athlete, water sports can be organized from hotels, resorts, or water-sport facilities located along the beachfront path or from one of the many sellers that wander around, reselling excursions and activities. Among the exciting things offered are sailing, jet-ski rentals, canoeing, skim boarding, and kite surfing. For scuba diving and snorkelling fans, you'll find more than thirty diving sites around Boracay to discover. These dive sites are just minutes away from each other and include beautiful corals and majestic fishes.

For the shopaholic, you can find vendors selling clothes, fashion accessories, and also novelty items. A few vendors set up stalls along the shore path, while some choose to carry their particular wares around with them while they roam about the beach. Boracay boasts an outdoor shopping mall called D'Mall, which houses retail outlets, eateries and cafes.

A good quality massage is the ideal option to end the day following hours of sports activities or shopping. Deep massages are often organized through the resort or hotel, or perhaps through the sellers. Dining out is definitely an experience in itself, with the great foods that numerous restaurants in Boracay have to offer you. Pubs provide wild, crazy and invigorating nights. Happy hour often commences around 4 or 5 pm. Nearly all bars shut at around 1 am to 3 am.

Contemplate Boracay when planning your honeymoon vacation, your next family vacation, or bonding time with your pals. It's the ideal tropical island to escape to whenever you just want to get away.

Great article Brings back memories of my visit last year. A word of warning, nothing is cheap in Boracay, but I guess that's the price you pay for a stay in paradise and somewhere that all food and drinks have to be transported to by small boat and trike.

Food and drink prices are on par with Spain, Portugal and Greece, double or treble what they are in most of the Phil's. I've been reliably informed by Pinoy friends working there that in the beachfront bars, prices aren't published and they have 3 prices - one for Filipino's, one for westerners and one for Koreans !!!

Ian, i know there's a Starbucks there! But as much as i want to, i have to cut back on having coffee.. i happened to have gallstones and have read in the internet that coffee triggers the pain (?) - the last time the pain triggered was when i drank coffee before leaving the office...so no Starbucks for me in Boracay or never again

We spent a couple of weeks in Boracay. When my wife came to Spain (in June) and we walked along the the Paseo (beach road) for the first time, she asked, "Why do they think Boracay is so great ?
