Congratulations & well done, Kris ... I knew you could do it!
  2. Arthur Little
to've taken so long to get back to you on this occasion, Kris ... due to my involvement with the Scottish Elections. Needless to say, I spent most of yesterday catching up on some much-needed sleep.

I'm really pleased you've managed to arrange an appointment for Monday at Croydon. Hopefully, your remaining bank statement has since arrived. But if not, don't worry ... simply present the ones you do have and explain the situation to the clerk(ess) interviewing you. *PEO staff are generally very understanding in circumstances that are clearly beyond an applicant's control. Besides, you're already married, and I've yet to hear of anyone being turned down for FLR! And - as I previously said - *they're bound to realise the considerable expenditure entailed in planning a UK wedding - on top of the hefty cost of a Fiancee Visa.

So ... go forth with determination that success will be yours!

Kris ... if you wish to apply in person, you should contact the UKBA website on:- www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk

THEY will, in turn, arrange a date & time according to the slots they have available. Living in Enfield - as you and Gary do - I imagine your closest PEO will be at Croydon. This is a 'Premium Service' which allows the visa to be issued the SAME DAY - at an additional cost - but if you're like me (and prefer not having to wait weeks for the result ) you'll agree it's worth the extra.

Let me know once you've managed to arrange your appointment.

    Cheers

    Arthur

    Hello again, Kris

... you were also asking if it would be alright to apply for your FLR on May 27 - given that your present visa expires on June 2. Hmm ... that isn't leaving you with much time; I would suggest you do so a bit sooner ... but certainly no earlier than 28 days before the date of your arrival in this country. Goodluck to both of you.

    Hi, Kris

Throughout my time as a member of this forum, the figure £2 - 3K appears to have been the average amount bandied about in respect of couples applying for Settlement ... i.e., fiancee and/or spousal visas.

However, since you and Gary are ALREADY married, £1,000 - £1,500 in savings seems reasonable ... taking into account the obvious expense a wedding in the UK normally incurs. Besides, FLR is merely an extension of your stay for another 2 years ... and I cannot envisage the Authorities *separating any newlyweds on the strength of what is, after all, an understandable drop in the money they have left in the bank.

So - as long as you provide all the necessary paperwork asked for - I'm sure you need have no worries on *that score.

    Sincerely,

    Arthur

Ah ... I wasn't prepared for that eventuality!

Well, to overcome the possibility of this happening - and to set your mind at rest - I suggest contacting the Philippine Embassy again ... explaining what the lady pointed out to you, and ask for THEIR recommendations in the circumstances ... as THEY will be more qualified than the likes of me to advise you.
  7. Arthur Little
I'd be inclined to leave things as they are ... after all, you were granted your fiancee visa on the strength of the documents you submitted to the British Embassy in Manila. At that point your Marriage Certificate would've been verified by the NSO - otherwise your visa wouldn't have been issued in the first place.

So there's no reason to suppose the outcome of of your FLR is likely to be any different.

You mention the omission was pointed out by the Philippine Embassy in London ... which has no bearing on the Home Office Border Agency - who will be the ones dealing with your application. Time enough to have the oversight rectified IF - and WHEN - you decide to apply for* Dual Citizenship. In *THAT event both Authorities will be involved.

Remember ... it's YOUR APPLICATION that is being assessed - NOT your father's surname.

    Goodluck when the time comes.

    Sincerely,

    Arthur.

Hello Krissy ... Myrna & I are fine . And we hope you and your fiance are too. Congratulations on your English Language Test result last month'

It's good to learn you're getting married on the 29th. We wish both of you all the best on your BIG DAY and every happiness in the years ahead. When it comes to applying for FLR in May ... your husband-to-be should provide sufficient evidence to show he's in a position to support you financially without claiming Public Funds [Benefits]. Usually this entails supplying 6 months' worth of Bank Statements - detailing Income & Expendture - the MAIN criterion being that he's NOT OVERDRAWN! Savings of around £2,000+ are normally considered adequate.

It might also be an idea to log onto the UK Border Agency Website - even if only for the sake of ensuring there are no recent changes that I've overlooked.

    God Bless,

    Arthur
