    Question Upgrading Yahoo versions

Does anyone know if you upgrade from an older yahoo instant messaging version to the current new one, if your chats will be saved or wiped? Just that Viva is on an older version and has put off upgrading as she thinks her chats will be wiped. If they will be wiped is there anything that she can do to save them?

    Thanks for any help.

Apparently in Windows XP the log files are kept in this location on the computer, so in theory could be copied and saved:

    '
    C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles\<yahoo_username>

On later YM there is a facility for converting the messages to emails, which you can then send to yourself (or wherever). Check if this is available on your version.

I have a feeling though that if you do upgrade to a later version of YM it will save your archived messages anyway, but worth backing them up just in case.
