    New laptop wanted

So I'm now looking out for a new laptop. It doesn't have to be anything flash or have a masive memory as I have external hard drives. Basically something around the 12-15 inch screen and resonably lightwieght (pretty important because of the amount of travel I do). I'll just use it to watch films on, a bit of web surfing and a little bit of word and excel.

    Any suggestions?

I find the notebook screen too small to be honest, 13-15 inch screen would be good.

If it's going to be your main PC I'd avoid a netbook as they are under powered (processor and RAM). Decent spec laptops can be picked up for around £400 - £500 these days. It's worth making sure you have at least 4Gb of RAM but ideally 8Gb. I've had Toshiba laptops for the last 18 years and never had a hardware failure, we've bought a few Acer and Dell laptops at work and have suffered a few hard drive failures. We usually get at least 3 years life out of a Tosh, but 18-24 months out of anything else.

my last lap top was a sony,£500 from tesco, done me for about 5 yrs now and is still going strong, its done a lot of work for me, was always on and connected 24/7.despite the fact that i dropped it breaking 1 usb port and broke my cd rom and card slot reader, its still going.
recently from tesco direct again, iv bought a toshiba satellite lap top, very pleased with it cost was about £380, i would highly recomend, but remember you get what you pay for,too cheap wont last
