I am so mad right now and feel compelled to share why!!!

Firstly, let me apologise if this has been threaded elsewhere; I searched but did not see anything1

I'm not often reduced to tears but I am so mad right now!!!!

Those who know me know it's rare for m to have extreme feelings but I want to say that I am totally outraged right now. I've been at a congress for the last few days so had not been aware of the shocking story of the toddler that was run over by TWO vehicles in China and subsequently ignored by no fewer than 18 people as she lay severly injured in the road. I considred posting a link but am too disgusted to do so; it's all over the internet anyway.

What type of world is this that we are living in and how on earth have our lives brought us to this state of apathy? Words fail me! Yes, it was thousands of miles away in China but it does not take much to see almost daily, examples of our ongoing lack of humanity closer to home.

Only the other day I was at the airport. On approaching the gate I heard a bitter wailing. It was coming from an elderly woman and she wa surrounded by half a dozen people minding their own business, reading their books/papers and occasionaally raising their head to snigger at each other.

She stank of alcohol and I was initially repulsed by her but nevertheless, I spoke to her and sat holding her hand as she poored her heart out. It did not take much, only time. What would you do?

I've come back in to edit my post as I want to say that the question is intended to be rhetorical. I just want us all to think, even for a moment, about how we treat others that may need help around us.

Apologies but I imagine we are all extraordinarily appalled by this tragic event and others like it.

I was also horrified at that story, is pretty scary. One reason that was cited by the Chinese Media is that a lot of people are afraid to help someone because there have ended up being blamed in the situation, and the same thing is often said to white people in the Philippines not to stop at accidents or such like to help as through corruption you may end up being blamed. This is sad though, I really did feel physically sick reading the article.

i've watched the video in the news a couple of days ago..it was really sad what has happened to that poor kid..i just couldn't believe it! It's such a shame that no one didn't even care to save the life of the kid at that time.

    And that's not all.

A lorry driver ran over a five-year-old boy – and then reversed over him to make sure he was dead in an apparent attempt to avoid footing hospital bills for the child.
The sickening incident happened in Luzhou, western China, when driver Ao Yong hit Xiong Maoke as he left home to walk to school.
Witness Zhang Shifen said: ‘I saw the truck move back a little and then move forward again. Xiong became wrapped up in the wheel and the truck continued forward another ten yards.’
The tragedy comes just a week after two-year-old Yue Yue was knocked down by two vehicles on a busy market street. The child was ignored by 18 passers-by before someone came to her aid. She died in hospital a few days later.
