Question Dual Citizenship - Report of Birth - Filipino Passport - Report of Marriage

    Hi everyone,

I am hoping you could clarify that I have the below steps set out OK.

I am a british national born in the UK june 1983. My wife is a Filipino national born in Phillipines.

We live in the UK and got got married here this March. We also had our first son born this August

So plan is, Report of Marriage to Filipino Embassy, Get our son his British Passport. Then do his Report of Birth at Filipino Embassy then Dual Citizenship and Filipino Passport.

Does this all sound logical. We plan to go to the Phillipines in March so thought if we do all this his travels should not be restricted as we plan to go for a few months.

Look forward to your advice, thanks in advance

All sounds good my friend. Many congratulations.Children are a real joy.
Don't forget that travels around the world are all dependent on passport.
From the information you supplied your wife will still be subject to many visa restrictions as the holder of RP passport, please be aware of that.

You can also apply to the Phils govt. for what is called 'recognition' (of Filipino citizenship) for your child. No passport involved, but same rights.
That's what I got for my boy when he was about a year old....same birth circumstances as yourselves.

    You're given a certificate.

No visas needed when he goes to the Phils.

I'm assuming they still operate this.

It might be worth checking out as an option if there are any problems getting (or in actually possessing) a Filipino passport.
