Adventure and Overland tours
If anyone's planning a wierd or wonderful overland tour across South America, Central Asia or the Far East, these people are definitely worth looking at.

For what they offer, prices are very reasonable, plus they take the hassle out of planning your adventure if you don't know anything about where you're going and don't speak the local language. Prices include all accom, food, guides and transport while you are on the tour, but exclude the cost of international flights.
I just wish I could get more time off work next year

Its a bit sanitised doing these sort of trips, the only problem is you havent the flexibility like you would do if your with a mate or solo travelling,I remember meeting some dragoman or exodus overland tour guides maybe 20 years ago going up the Hunza valley, they had a truck full of gap-year kids, the originals were the double-decker bus hippies doing the 5K's,a mate of mine is/was doing a solo trip down overland to Mali on a Tenere, been planning it for a while but is currently kicking his heels around in Morocco as he changed schedule abruptly when the three tourists were kidnapped and one shot dead in Timbuktu a few weeks ago.
Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.

I agree that tours are a bit sanitised, and ultimately I prefer to travel solo at my own pace, but sometimes if you're up against time and on your own it's the easiest way to get to see the things you want to without the hassle of language barriers and planning. I've only ever done day tours in HK before, so not sure how I'd cope with 2 weeks of being told where to go and when

If I make a complete hash of my next couple of train adventures, I'll let someone else organise my trips for me in future

12th December 2011 #5TweetI think it was one of the original tour-operators,those who sprang up when they realised "Adventure-travel" might take off in a similar way that eco-tourism is now a buzz-word,who used to offer a 22 country 14 week trip from europe across to africa who used to do it for about £2000,that was maybe 15 years ago howeverThey have really good prices
