To be perectly honest my initial reaction is total disbelief.
I just wonder if any of the highly paid lawyers will continue to pursue this issue.

In my opinion the reality of the English Test and it's changes and consequencies is a complete 'buggers-muddle' and is not clear at all.

Maybe I'm begining to be a real grumpy old man.

They are going to appeal Terpe. They are taking it to the high court. It makes my blood boil. It was on our local radio today. Apparently one of them. The wife has been here for 6 years and now wants her husband to join her from pakistan. He is 58 years old and cant speak english. She claims it is too far for him to travel to go to learn english where he lives and it would better for him to come here and learn the language. Further more she has already got a job lined up for him here in a packaging firm. 3 million out of work here and she has lined a job up for him. Makes me laugh.

Saw this on the news. Like Terpe still don't know why the Philippines is on the list, when most inhabitants can speak an acceptable level of English.

Then all the hassle alanp went through, after fulfilling all of the requirements.

Hi it depends when you are thinking about applying for your visa. If it is after April the government might change the rules. For example making the score you need to pass higher. Just a thought.

Honestly, the government is focusing on the wrong parts. Much of the immigration whether legal or illegal is economic migration from actually very poor families in various parts of Asia, and they are coming for a better life. I understand that, but England is a reaching a point where it cannot sustain these levels of immigration. Having an English test isn't the right action.
They need to reduce the welfare state, before the pot runs dry completely. People might cry, but they'll cry even more if we end up like a 3rd world country!!!! The immigrants will have no loyalty for the country, in the same way as very few british migrants abroad have loyalty for the countries they live in unless they CHOOSE to fully adapt.

The main source of all the immigration is coming from India and Pakistan but the government cant be seen to be just targeting them. So everybody has got to play by the rules. Thats my understanding of it. The english language test is a good thing I only know too well in my job. I have had to book a interpreter to come with me for 3 visits next week because the patient cant speak english. Now the patient concerned is asking for a letter from the NHS to confirm her illness so that she can use it for evidence to get her sister over her from india to look after her..

Nope. You are right. It is a complete mess. It could be radically improved with a bit of thought and care.
