relief goods will be a great help too, many of the victims weren't been able to save many of their belongings.....and the most simple thing and very important help is prayer, pray for courage and strength for the victims, and more people to help in rebuilding these areas.

I got onto this DEC body and they responded as follows

Thank you for your email. The DEC itself is not currently launching an appeal for the Philippines floods, as the response is being led by the authorities and our member agencies who already have a presence in the country. If you wish to support the response to this disaster, then you can find details on some of our members’ websites, including:

    SAVE THE CHILDREN
    http://www.savethechildren.org.uk/ne...-kill-hundreds

    BRITISH RED CROSS
    http://blogs.redcross.org.uk/emergen...itterfeed_blog

    CHRISTIAN AID
    http://www.christianaid.org.uk/emerg...s-typhoon.aspx

The DEC will remain in close contact with its member agencies as they monitor the developing situation but only a small minority have the presence in the Philippines that place them in a strong position to respond quickly and efficiently to the disaster. You can find out more about the criteria the DEC uses when deciding to launch an appeal here http://www.dec.org.uk/when-we-launch-appeal

    Thats encouraging news Andy

Shame the British Govt hasn't seen fit to send out any emergency aid - one wonders what would have happened if the disaster had occured in some islamic sink state rather than a Christian Democracy

I remember when Pakistan had the floods. Loads of them where going round the birmingham area with buckets asking for donations. I told the to go away or words to that effect.

ABS-CBN TV channel is taking donations direct into it's bank account, you can transfer your donations straight to them, check their websire for the account details. The two big TV channels here do more for the disaster victims than the government ever do. Yesterday ABS-CBN were down in the affected areas handing out mercy packages of food and other supplies to the needy. If you sent a donation to them it will get to the needy much faster.
