    Exit clearance at NAIA

Elaine will be flying out of NAIA to meet me in Ho Chi Minh City in a few weeks. We don't want her to be refused by a jobsworth check in clerk or immigration official.

She already has scanned copies of both sides of the credit card I used to pay for the flight (the first 12 digits have been covered) and I am drafting her a letter explaining that I have paid for the flights and the purpose of our trip...etc. Filipino citizens are issued a Tourist Visa of 21 days on arrival in Vietnam, unlike Brits who have to apply to the Vietnamese Embassy.

Is there anything else she needs or that I should add to the letter?

    Dear Sir or Madam,
    RE: Ms xxxxxxxxxxxx (Filipino citizen)
Please allow the above named person exit clearance from The Republic of the Philippines and entry into The Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
I am a British citizen and will be meeting the above in Vietnam for our vacation on xx January 2012 until xx January 2012. I have paid for the Cebu Pacific round trip flights (reference number xxxxxx) using my Mastercard credit card which ends with the numbers xxxx (see photocopy of the card).
The above will be my guest and I will be funding the cost of all travel, accommodation and food expenses. We will be staying at the XXXXXX Hotel at xxxxxxxx Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Tel: +849xxxxxxxx. The reservation for this hotel is in my name.
I have a Vietnamese Tourist Visa, reference number RXXXXXX which was issued in London, United Kingdom on the XX October 2011 and is valid from the XX December 2011 until the XX January 2012. If you have any questions, please contact me as a matter of urgency on +44XXXXXXXXXX.

I don't know an answer to your question but i know it is difficult... I am flying to MNL to ensure it's easy for my missus to come to Thailand with me (only cost me £100 more)... after she has left the country the first time... the second time should be easier... (well i hope)

Sorry for late reply Ian, I just caught up with this.

I understand that the letter you propose may be enough.
There was a couple of threads on here that gave some good info about the needed docs etc. I did a quickie search but couldn't find the ones I'm thinking about.
One of them was from a guy in Sweden I think.

Can't be of any more, I'm afraid.

It was mostly related to Human Trafficking and also some officials wanting a 'special incentive'

    Thanks Chino and Terpe

I'm hoping it will be OK, we went to Brunei and Malaysian Borneo in April and crossed the borders many times going backwards and forwards between Sabah, Brunei and Sarawak, she has the stamps in her passport so they can see she was a genuine tourist.

I've already warned her to be on the look out for Immigration officials looking for a New Years present

BTW she also has copies of all our hotel reservations in various Vietnamese towns and cities and copies of the invoice for our train tickets to show she is a genuine tourist.

Given her travel background and the letter you have prepared I strongly believe everything will be smooth.
    Enjoy the time together
