    Surname Change After ILR Issued

    Hi folks,

My wife is due for ILR in June. Her passport still has her maiden name.

We were planning to go to London in February to get her passport amended and renewed. Unfortunately, she has a brown passport so they cant amend it via mail.

However, we have a very busy February & March. Also I worry what would happen if her passport went missing when between London Philly embassy, Philippines and our house in relation to the ILR in June.

Consequently, we are considering just applyinmg for the ILR in her maiden name as currently on her passport, and then asking to get the ILR updated once we then get the passport updated.

Is it straight forward to get the ILR updated re surname following issue?

    Cheers

We are just in the process of changing my wife surname after her flr we went to the phil embassy to reg our marrage and to change her passport to have my surname we are waiting for her passport to be returned as it gets sent to the phillipines once we have that we just need to change to bimetric residents card with the new name cost of about 40pounds at the ukba.
I would think it would be the same for the ilr.

Yes. Interesting thread from our point of view also. We chose to process my wife's Spouse visa application in her maiden name and her passport is still in her maiden name. But before ILR her passport will expire and will need replacing here.

What is the process for changing her passport while she is in the UK? And presumably she can still leave her replacement passport in her maiden name?

    Thanks.
