We must all sign this petition
This wouldn't be so fair on us not bringing our wife/husbands to live with us if we have to earn around 26 grand.
Let's all get behind this and sign this petition which needs 1000 signatures.

What a disgrace the goverment are even thinking of breaking up the poorer families through this disgracefull proposal.
I cant even begin to think what impact it would have on wifes husbands & families

. Dont think it will make a difference though.

I understand the Govt is thinking along the lines of between £18,700 and £25,700 pa.
This may well have been brought about by abuse for example from Mr M Uslim of Blackburn who is on benefits, has 3 "wives" all living with their 4 kids in Council housing and is applying to import a 4th from Karachi.

Dead RIGHT, it's NOT fair, Nick ... it's GROSSLY UNFAIR!

Most DEFINITELY ... count ME in!
... something HAS to be done to stall what will, for many of our number, prove to be the most contentious immigration proposal by any government to date.

I have heard they were raising this but also heard they had not set an income figure yet, anything from 18-25k. They will go high if they are wanting to curb the people coming in.
-
7th January 2012 #19
what ever figure they set there will be court cases, I'm sure of that
, article 8
unless cameron can scrap parts of it
i'm sure people will find ways around this to, maybe just get a part time job to boost your income, what if a friend or family member or someone who owns a business to 'employ' you on a nice wage until you get the visa
, i'm sure people have thought of many other ways around this, but using deception might get you a ban
so be warned

lastlid, just to put your mind to rest. UKBA have internal guidance that states ILR refusal will NOT be issued solely due to financial reasons.
Just now I cannot locate the actual working, but will try to find it and post it here.
Really there are not any major issues for genuine couples.

... you're probably right, Andy
...
... be that as it may, however
... we HAVE to put up a united front and fight this
proposal tooth & nail ... and the more signatories WE, as a much~respected forum, can muster - as soon as possible - the better-placed we are to ensure common sense prevails.
So keep 'em coming! I, for one, feel indebted to Nick for drawing this petition to our attention!

And ... for the record, Stevie & Lasttlid can BOTH rest easy that - come what may - their respective marital partners will NOT find themselves adversely affected by ANY of the proposed changes.

if i remember correctly , in the govs new proposals, you need to have at least the minimum income when you apply for ILR, FLR or for a settlement visa, thou i would have thought there would be a transition period for those soon to be applying for ILR maybe FLR?.
also i can't see the HO deporting people become of not reaching the minimum income, that would be
that you've been here near 2yrs, married to a British citizen and then told to leave, can't see it happening, not with article 8. more likely and common sense might be that you would have to apply for FLR or keep applying for FLR until you reach the minimum income. so stopping those from claiming ILR and recourse to public funds.

Surely if you show that you have a reasonable amount of cash in the bank this would offset someone who is just below what they class as enough income to support your spouse.
