    The pound

For those about to travel to the phils & who are sending remmitance the pound is very poor only 66.86 to the peso

It seems like we are going to be stuck with a poor pound to the peso for a while it is only going to get worse it seems

32 to the pound when I first went there in 1990.

    KLM airfare was £700.

    Swings and roundabouts I guess.

I can trump that...definitely 100+ on one occasion.

My apartment in 1991 was only p2500 a month though, and just before Pinatubo I rented a posh 5 bedroomed house, shared with a friend for p7000 a month each.

"So why have sterling and the US$ lost ground against most other currencies in the last month or so? It is very simple. The possibility of further quantitative easing by their central banks - the Bank of England and the Federal Reserve respectively"

Quantitative Easing....and the expectation of it. That appears to be the reason for the poorer exchange rate.......the Bank of England is pumping a heap of money into the UK economy.
