All the photos there are more than 2 years old, so some things may differ. It was still up to date last year when I used Terminal 1.

First a general warning for everybody:

A general photo of NAIA Terminal 1 when ariving by car:

And the entrance of the terminal where the taxi leave you:

Remember that nobody is allowed inside Manila terminals without a valid ticket (classic paper ticket or printed e-ticket itinary) and a passport for a flight departing in the next few hours (if the flight departure time is too far, you may not be allowed to enter the terminal. I witness it one time in terminal 2. The person had to wait outside several hours). Keep them in hand when entering. The security guards will check them before allowing you to go inside and proceeding to the security checkpoint.
Sorry, no photo of the security checkpoint, the first thing you pass thru when entering the terminal. Here is the main area inside the terminal:

For the Filipino citizens who use tickets purchased abroad (or e-ticket bought online), don't forget, just after the initial security check (PRIOR to chek-in), you must go and pay the Travel Tax (P1620 for Economy/Business class, P2700 for First class) at the Travel Tax desk of the DOT (Philippines Department of Tourism): turn right just after the security checkpoint and you will find the desk near the exit of the terminal on your right.
For those Filipinos settled abroad, you will pay the P200 travel tax exemption if you have with you the proof of your status (I.E. residency card, ...).

In the center of the terminal under the flight announcement panel, you will find an information desk, a bank desk for exchanging money, and an ATM machine (if you're lacking of cash to pay the airport tax and the travel tax):

While going to check-in, the initial passport and visa check:

The check-in area:

After check-in go to the center to board. There's a boarding pass checkpoint there:

Then the desks for paying the Airport Tax (P750):

After proceeding to immigration (don't forget to first complete the embarkation card you got at check-in. You
must have your passport, visa and boarding pass available, also):

If you have some problems at immigration, you can always call for the Immigration Duty Supervisor, you have his name on the right of the immigration lanes:

Here is the right part of the terminal, you have a symetrical left part as you have a left and a right satellite with 10 gates each.

Then go thru the Duty Free (you have a circle corridor to see all stores):

On the right you have a waiting lounge:

At the end on the right the corridor to the gates and on the left the stairs to the airlines lounge (there is some also in the corridor, depending on the airline):

And the last security check in the corridor to the gates:

After the check in the corridor, left and right way to airlines lounges:

At the end of the corridor the escalator to go down to the waiting area at the gate:

The waiting area at the gate:

And the last door to pass thru on the Philippines territority before using the jetway to go inside your flight:

On flights bound to the US, there is another security check to pass thru.

Have a good flight!
